Even though it is too early to celebrate its success, Rwanda achieved a great success since the genocide of the mid-1990s. Rwanda’s economy grew annually by 10% between 1995 and 2002, due to reconstruction activity and structural reforms, but by an average of 5% since then[1].
More exciting news is that there are structural changes we can find. There has been some export diversification in recent years, with minerals assuming an important share (about 30%) of the total. The tourism in Rwanda is often cited as an example what African can do despite of the long list of constrains. The most exciting news is that in the WB doing business report 2009, Rwanda is ranked as the best reformer in the world. It is the first time for African country received this title.
Why Rwanda could success when other neighboring countries or post genocide countries still remains the same?
